NEW DELHI — In the heart of South Delhi’s iconic Shaheen Bagh neighbourhood, Safiur Rahman, a 27-year-old social worker, is making waves with his dedication and relentless commitment to uplifting the community through education and legal aid. From humble beginnings in Sarojini Nagar to his current role as the chairperson of Green Trees School and Spring Valley, young Rahman’s journey epitomises the power of altruism and determination.

“Education is not just a privilege but a fundamental right,” Rahman asserts, reflecting on his mission to provide free education to underprivileged children. Speaking to Clarion India, Rahman elucidates his vision of empowering all children with the gift of knowledge, regardless of their socio-economic background.

Since the inception of Green Trees School and Spring Valley in 2013, Rahman’s steadfast dedication has seen the institutions grow into beacons of hope for the community. With approximately 60 to 70 children annually enjoying free education, Rahman ensures that no child lags in pursuing knowledge.

“The true measure of our success lies in the future we shape,” Rahman remarks, highlighting the numerous success stories that have emerged from his schools. Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Green Trees School and Spring Valley provide a nurturing environment where students thrive in all spheres.

Expanding his philanthropic efforts beyond education, Rahman offers free coaching classes to students of all grades, enriching their learning experience and broadening their horizons. Additionally, Rahman extends his expertise in law to provide pro bono legal advice, ensuring access to justice for those in need.

Supported unwaveringly by his family, Rahman’s altruistic journey is a testament to the power of unity and compassion. Through his school’s Facebook page, Rahman actively engages with the community, offering assistance and support to those seeking educational opportunities.

Incorporating values of kindness and responsibility into the school curriculum, Rahman encourages his students to become active participants in community initiatives. Recently, his students participated in a tree planting drive, contributing to environmental conservation efforts and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Beyond his educational and social endeavours, Rahman serves as the general secretary (spokesperson) of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee’s Minority Department, leveraging his position to advocate for social justice and equality. Expressing gratitude to his friends for their unwavering support, Rahman calls for wider societal cooperation to advance his mission of social welfare.
