NEW DELHI – The Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) has launched dedicated helplines to assist citizens across multiple states in navigating the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The SIR process is a crucial part of voter list revision conducted by the Election Commission to ensure accuracy and inclusion in electoral rolls. Recognising the challenges faced by ordinary citizens, particularly those from marginalised communities, APCR’s helplines aim to provide timely support and clear guidance to help people exercise their democratic rights effectively, a press statement said on Sunday.
Through these helplines, APCR volunteers will assist citizens with:
- Filling out SIR forms correctly
- Clarifying doubts regarding required documents
- Guiding how to contact the Booth Level Officer (BLO)
The helplines will be operational daily from 11 AM to 8 PM, and citizens can reach out on the following numbers: +91 99530 92298, +91 95686 12393, +91 92201 35155.
This initiative currently covers Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and other states where the SIR process is ongoing.
The APCR statement has clarified that the initiative was only a public awareness exercise. “All assistance is based on publicly available information and documents uploaded by the ECI. APCR does not guarantee the inclusion of any person’s name in the SIR or fill out the enumeration form on anyone’s behalf,” it said.
