HYDERABAD — In a remarkable testament to resilience and commitment, 76-year-old Muhammad Ismail has been awarded a PhD degree in Hindi by Dr BR Ambedkar Open University during its 25th convocation on Thursday.

At an age when many choose the comforts of home and time spent with family, Ismail embraced the challenge of pursuing higher education. Hailing from Murrial Gowra, Ismail shared his journey, emphasising the importance of education across all age groups.

Expressing his motivation, Ismail stated, “I want to be an example for the current generation of students and youth who may be hesitant to pursue higher education. Age should never be a barrier to learning.”

He enrolled in the PhD Hindi program in 2018 and recently completed his rigorous coursework, and erned the prestigious degree.

Reflecting on his academic journey, Ismail highlighted the significant growth in his knowledge during the research process. He had previously obtained an MPhil degree in 1984 after completing his postgraduate studies.

As he proudly wears the academic cap at 76, Ismail aims to inspire and encourage others to break through age-related stereotypes, demonstrating that a pursuit of knowledge knows no age limit. His accomplishment serves as a beacon of hope for those who may feel deterred by societal expectations, reinforcing the belief that education is a lifelong journey.
