NEW DELHI — The Delhi Police have strengthened security measures outside Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s house following intelligence inputs suggesting potential threats from right-wing groups. A platoon of paramilitary personnel and multiple teams from the New Delhi district police have been deployed outside his residence.
This heightened security comes after Rahul Gandhi’s maiden speech in Lok Sabha as the Leader of Opposition, where he criticized the BJP and sparked a backlash from party leaders, reported Vartha Bharati.
The speech, which lasted about 100 minutes, had some parts expunged by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, including references to Hinduism, industrialists, and the Agnipath scheme.
The increased security measures were put in place during the afternoon hours yesterday, after a tip-off was received regarding a possible disturbance in the area. Senior police officers confirmed the development.
