NEW DELHI — Amidst the outrage over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, farmers body Kisan Ekta Morcha has alleged that a vehicle which was part of a convoy of Bharatiya Janata Party MP Nayab Saini rammed into a crowd of farmers who were protesting against the controversial farm laws in Naraingarh town in Ambala district of Haryana.

The farmers, according to NDTV, said that one protestor was injured in the incident. He was reportedly referred to a hospital in the town.

Saini, who represents Kurukshetra in the Lok Sabha, was on a visit to Amabala to attend a function to facilitate the health workers for their Covid duty. The farmers had gathered to register their protest against Saini’s visit.

The incident comes days after eight people, including four farmers, were killed in violence in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, when a convoy led by Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Mishra allegedly rammed into a small crowd of farmers.

The incident sparked national outrage as opposition leaders expressed their anger against the government and made their way to the spot of the incident.

The police registered an FIR under murder and conspiracy charges against Ahsih Mishra while the government constituted a committee to probe the incident.
