KAIMUR – Ahead of the Muharram procession, the police have intensified their vigilance across Bihar’s Kaimur district. On Monday, authorities conducted raids on a printing press in Mohania city, acting on reports of the production of Palestinian flags and T-shirts.

Kaimur police had received information suggesting that potentially provocative materials were being produced locally. In response, police officers carried out inspections but did not find any objectionable items during the raids.

SDM Mohania Rakesh Kumar stated, “A checking campaign was conducted in view of the Muharram procession. All printing press owners have been warned. The administration will keep a close watch on the Muharram procession. If any person is caught with objectionable material during the procession, action will be taken against him. Along with this, action will also be taken against those printing objectionable material.”

DSP Dilip Kumar elaborated on the motivations behind the raids. “We received information about the making of objectionable T-shirts, which raised concerns about the potential for unrest. To prevent any disturbances, we searched the printing presses. While no objectionable materials were found, we have issued warnings. Our goal is to ensure that Muharram is observed peacefully, maintaining social and religious harmony in the district.”

The Bihar government has issued strict instructions regarding the Muharram procession this year, emphasising the importance of maintaining peace. The authorities’ proactive measures come in response to recent objections raised by some individuals concerning the display of Palestinian flags and T-shirts during religious events.

The police and administration’s commitment to a peaceful Muharram has been met with varied reactions from the community. While some residents appreciate the efforts to maintain order, others feel the actions may be excessive.

“It’s good to see the police ensuring peace, but it’s also important that these actions don’t create unnecessary fear or tension among the people. We hope for a peaceful and respectful observance of Muharram,” a local community member said.

The authorities have assured the public that their primary objective is to support a harmonious celebration of the festival. “Strict action will be taken against anyone attempting to disturb the peace,” DSP Kumar reiterated.
