NEW DELHI — On Thursday, Clarion India reported about the mob attack on 28-year-old Muslim hairdresser Akhlaq in Panipat on August 24.
His brother Ikram said that a family beat up Akhlaq and severed his right arm which had ‘786’ written on it. The police registered a case with zero FIR on the attack on Akhlaq on September 7.
Report later said the police had registered two FIRs into the incident.
The family accused of assaulting Akhlaq has also filed a police complaint against Akhlaq accusing him of sexually assaulting a minor boy. The Haryana police have registered an FIR against Akhlaq at the Chandnibagh police station in Panipat under Section 6 and Section 18 of POCSO Act and Section 323 of IPC.
Clarion India has accessed the copy of the FIR which records the complaint filed by male relative of the minor. It says the family was asleep in the verandah of their house near a railway line in Panipat. The complainant says that at around 1 am, he got up and found the gate of the yard unlatched but closed. He got up and found that the minor boy was missing from the sleeping cot.
“The small gate of the parkside of the house was found open. I, along with my neighbours and relatives, went to the park to find the missing child”, the police complaint reads.
He told the police, “We found that a young man was forcing himself on the kid naked. The kid was bleeding from his mouth. The kid’s face was swollen”. They caught the man and slapped him to inquire about his details. “He said that his name was Akhlaq”, the complainant said.
He added that Akhlaq ran away and was never found by the family thereafter.
The police later found Akhlaq near the railway track. He was injured and without a right hand.
As already reported by Clarion India, Akhlaq’s family has accused the family of thrashing the hairdresser when he went to their house for drinking water. His brother said that they used a chainsaw and chopped off Akhlaq’s right arm.
The FIR mentions that the family of the minor took him to the hospital on August 27. The medico-legal report of the minor, according to the complaint, states four blunt injuries.
