NGOs call for investigation on killing of Palestinian nurse, others

GAZA (AA) — A representative of a conglomerate of Palestinian non-government organizations (NGOs) on Sunday called on the international community to investigate the murder of 21-year-old Palestinian paramedic Razan al-Najar.

Aid Yagi, health coordinator of the Palestinian Non-Governmental Organization Network, said: “We want the international community and related NGOs to investigate the martyrdom of Najar and Palestinian people.”

He was present at a sit-in in front of World Health Organization’s (WHO) office in Gaza.

Yagi pointed out that the murder of the young paramedic was caught on camera, however, Israel still was not brought to account.

“Even though everything is clear and well documented, the international community remains silent. This silence means a green light for Israeli administration. In addition, the international community stays quiet on the issue and the U.S. siding with Israel led to occupant Israeli forces increasing the number of crimes committed against Palestinians,” he said.

During the protest, NGOs demanded necessary steps to protect health workers attending the injured during the ongoing protests on Gaza Strip.

On Friday, Najar embraced martyrdom after being shot by an Israeli sniper during the peaceful demonstrations.

On Saturday, thousands of Palestinians bid farewell to the fallen martyr in southern Huzaa town of Gaza.

According to Palestinian Health Ministry’s Sunday statement, the number of the Palestinian martyrs in the Great March of Return demonstrations has reached 123 whereas 13,672 Palestinians — 7,451 of whom were hit by live ammunition — were wounded by Israeli soldiers.
