HYDERABAD — Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has invited All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) president and Member of Lok Sabha from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, for the party conference in Chennai on January 6 ahead of the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, reports ANI.

DMK minority wing secretary Dr Mastan has extended the invitation to Owaisi at his residence in Hyderabad on Friday for a DMK conference which is scheduled to be held in Chennai, according to the report.

Spreading its presence across the country, AIMIM had already announced in November to contest Tamil Nadu Assembly election due in April-May 2021.

The participation of AIMIM leader in DMK conference hints at any possible understanding between the two parties for the Assembly polls.

DMK, led by MK Stalin, is the main opposition party that will contest against the ruling All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in the Tamil Nadu Assembly election.

Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan is also campaigning for his party Makkal Needhi Maiam for the upcoming polls.
