The demolition came a day after the administration sealed two other madrasas in the area, citing illegality
GHAZIABAAD — The Ghaziabad administration has intensified action against alleged illegal madrasas in the Khora and Dasna areas following tensions that emerged after the murder of a youth last week.
On Wednesday, authorities demolished Madrasa Arabia Islam in Dasna’s Kallugarhi locality as part of what is being described as an “anti-encroachment” drive. Officials claimed that the madrasa had been constructed on government land and was operating without the required permissions.
The demolition came a day after the administration sealed two other madrasas in the Khora area.
According to officials, the operation was carried out under heavy security arrangements. A large number of police personnel were deployed at the site, including members of the Rapid Action Force (RAF), to prevent any disturbance during the demolition.
The developments follow the killing of a youth identified as Surya Chauhan in Khora on the day of Eid Al-Adha. Police said the main accused, Asad, was later killed in an encounter.
The murder led to tension in parts of the area, prompting increased security and administrative action.
Earlier this week, Ghaziabad Police Commissioner J. Ravindra Goud and District Magistrate Ravindra Mandad supervised the sealing of two alleged illegal madrasas in Khora.
Officials said cases had also been registered against three individuals, including madrasa operators. Electricity connections to the institutions were reportedly disconnected as part of the enforcement action.\
The administration maintains that the action was taken against structures found to be violating land-use regulations and other legal requirements.
Officials said the campaign against unauthorised constructions would continue and that further inspections were being conducted in the district.
The murder case and subsequent administrative actions have drawn strong reactions from various groups.
Several Hindu organisations held protests and demonstrations following the killing of Surya Chauhan, demanding strict action against those responsible.
At the same time, some community representatives and residents expressed concern that the atmosphere in the area had become increasingly tense after the incident.
Police have appealed for calm and said strict action would be taken against anyone attempting to disturb communal harmony or spread inflammatory messages.
Security remains heightened in the area, with officers continuing patrols and monitoring the situation closely.
Authorities said their priority is to maintain law and order while ensuring that all actions are carried out in accordance with legal procedures.
