VARANASI (IANS) — Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not keeping his promises made to the people during the 2014 Lok Sabha campaign, BSP supremo Mayawati on Saturday said no amount of prayers would help him this time.

Addressing a rally of party supporters in Rohania here, she also said that Modi, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Varanasi, had lost the support of the people of his constituency and that the large crowd thronging his road show here earlier in the day had been imported.

Referring to the prayers offered by Modi at the Kashi Vishwanath and Kaal Bhairav temples in the city, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo said even the gods will not come to his rescue now.

Calling the people who had thronged the route of Modi’s road show his “chamchas”, she said that even these people will vote against BJP candidates in Varanasi this time.

She went on to criticize the Prime Minister for his decision of demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, saying the people of the state were disgusted with the “adopted son from Gujarat” and would this time vote for “their very own daughter” meaning herself.
