Muslims in the Sangam Vihar area file complaint against the inflammatory statement

NEW DELHI – A video of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader calling for killing two lakh Muslims within 48 hours has gone viral on social media with the members of minority community filing complaint against the leader.
“You have 48 hours to do whatever you can. Else, whether it’s 1.5 or 2 lakh Muslims here, we will kill all of them,” the BJP leader, believed to be Karnail Singh, can be heard saying while threatening a police officer in the Sangam Vihar area of the national capital.
Speaking to Clarion India, local resident Mohammed Musarrat said the BJP leader made the inflammatory statement on Saturday (22 June) after a calf carcass was found at J 2B Colony.
“Local Muslim leaders have filed a complaint with the local police station. They held a meeting and decided that they will not protest or take out march. It will disturb peace and exacerbate the matter. Then, they submitted a complaint with the SHO,” said Musarrat, who runs a YouTube channel.
In the complaint filed on 22 June, the Muslims demanded the arrest of the BJP leader and invoking the National Security Act (NSA) against him. “The statement has created panic among the people. They are concerned that the provocative statement has the potential to create an untoward incident ,” reads the complaint signed by around a dozen people.
The situation is now peaceful but on Sunday, there was a lot of ruckus as Hindutva leaders had called for a protest at Peepal Chowk against the alleged cow slaughter. They decided to take out a march reciting ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. However, the police did not allow the march. “The administration is active and holding meetings with local people. It is yet to be verified that whether the carcass was brought there by a stray dog or an animal was actually slaughtered there,” he said.
The spot where the carcass was found is a little away from a temple. Tension prevails in the area forcing about a dozen Muslim families to move out. Those residing in rented homes have vacated their homes and the ones who owned homes have locked them up and have gone elsewhere.
According to Musarrat, Hindutva proponents are constantly visiting the area and raising slogans “Send them to Pakistan”, “Katwe” and “terrorists”.
Meanwhile, a group of Muslims also filed complaint with the SHO of Sangam Vihar police station, have expressed their support to the Hindu brothers as the carcass hurt their religious sentiments.
“We all local people from the Muslim community are disturbed with what has happened at J-2 colony. We are with the sentiment of our local Hindu brothers. This incident is deeply heart-wrenching. We the members of Muslim community request you to arrest the culprits as soon as possible,” reads the complaint filed by around 15 people.
They vowed to stand with their local Hindu brothers till necessary action was taken against the culprits.
