NEW DELHI — Infamous hate monger and controversial priest Yati Narsinghanand, who has several cases registered against him for his vitriolic comments against Islam and Muslims, has again harped on his pet Islamophobic narrative.
In a video message from his temple in Dasna in Uttar Pradesh’s city of Ghaziabad, the staunch Hindutva protagonist exhorted the majority community to pick up arms and form terrorist groups like ISIS in the Middle East.
The video has gone viral and it shows Narsinghanand’s willingness to have a meeting with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to ask him about the weapons.
Claiming that Hindus are being attacked by Muslims and then the police, the priest said Hindus must stand up to save “your religion, your family, your existence. Take up arms. If needed, form your own organisation, like the Muslims do, like ISIS.”
Alleging that some Hindus were thrashed by a mob in Muradnagar, the priest stated that the situation of Hindus will not change unless they take up arms in their defence.
The remarks have drawn massive flak with people questioning the failure of the police to take action against him.
Tagging Uttar Pradesh Police and Director General of Police, Shaukat Ali, the state president of All India Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimeen, asked why were the police not taking action against the priest despite his frequent remarks against Muslims.
“This person regularly instigates the Hindu community against Muslims, provokes them to take up arms, talks of forming a terrorist organisation like ISIS, yet why is no action taken against him? Is the police department afraid to take action against him or is he given a free hand because he belongs to the majority community?” he asked.
Calling Narsinghanand a “terrorist”, senior journalist Dr Mukesh Kumar said the priest is not being touched by the law enforcement agencies as he is being protected by the Narendra Modi government.
“This terrorist is roaming freely. He is spewing venom every day, inciting Hindus to start a civil war in the country. This can lead to violence; people can be ready to kill each other. Therefore, he should be immediately booked for treason and sent to jail,” said Kumar.
He further pointed out “But that will not happen. This is not the first time he has used such venomous language, but nothing happened to him. As long as they have the protection of Modi-Shah, such anti-national terrorists will continue to flourish and the people of other religions will be blamed”.
In the past, Narisinghanand’s blasphemous remarks against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Islam caused massive protests in several parts of the country. Activists and political leaders sought strict action against him. However, no stringent action was taken against him except the registration of an FIR which carried lenient penal sections.
Narisinghanand enjoys close proximity to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. His intention to visit the chief minister is quite significant. Recently, a video of Adityanath allowing Narsinghanand to come close to him during a function had gone viral on social media. The chief minister did so bypassing his security personnel.
AIMIM leader Shadab Chouhan questioned secular leaders like Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav for not speaking up against the hate speeches of Narsinghanand.
“This person is continuously spreading hatred in society but unfortunately, he cannot be controlled. Secular leaders like Akhilesh Yadav do not say anything about taking action against him. Hey stupid, Indian Muslims always denied ISIS and said that ISIS has nothing to do with Islam,” posted Chouhan on social media.
