My Ideology Doesn’t Match with Varun Gandhi’s: Rahul

Addressing a press conference as part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader responding to a question said he is happy that riff-raffs have switched over to the BJP.

NEW DELHI — Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while responding to a question on BJP leader Varun Gandhi, said on Tuesday that his ideology doesn’t match with the latter, adding that he’d rather be beheaded than go to the office of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Commenting on his estranged cousin, Rahul Gandhi said, “He (Varun Gandhi) is in the BJP. If he walks into the Bharat Jodo Yatra, he might be in a problem. My ideology does not match his ideology. My family has an ideology, we have different ways of thinking… But Varun has adopted the RSS ideology, which is not acceptable.”

“I can meet him, I can hug him, but I cannot accept the RSS ideology. There is a clash between the two ideologies. Many years ago, Varun had told me that RSS is also doing good work. I had told him then that ‘you have not studied the history of the family; had you did, you would not have said this’,” Rahul Gandhi said.

Happy that riff-raffs have gone to BJP: Rahul

Responding to a question on Congress leaders leaving the party and joining BJP, Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said he is happy that riff-raffs have switched over to the BJP.

The former party president was addressing a press conference as part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“Thankfully, the riff-raffs have gone to BJP. Our party has a mix of capable and senior leaders along with young leaders and workers who are working hard,” the Gandhi scion stated.

“I think many leaders left the party under pressure from ED-CBI and cases but during Bharat Jodo Yatra workers were enthusiastic,” he added.

Many leaders in Punjab, including former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, and former PCC president Sunil Jakhar have left the party, along with senior leadership, not only in Punjab, but Ghulam Nabi Azad left the party, and so did Jyotitraditya Scindia, Jitin Prasada who were considered close to Rahul Gandhi. — IANS
