‘Muslims Producing Children Like Pigs’: BJP Leader’s Slur Draws Heavy Criticism

Netizens accuse Dr Udita Tyagi, a leader associated with the BJP’s Mahila Morcha, of hate speech and communal incitement

NEW DELHI — A video featuring Dr Udita Tyagi, a leader associated with the Mahila Morcha, the women’s wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has sparked widespread backlash online after she made controversial remarks about Muslims during a public event in the Uttar Pradesh city of Meerut.

Several netizens accused her of hate speech and communal incitement.

In the clip, widely shared on social media, Dr Tyagi is seen addressing a gathering at the city’s PVS Mall. In her speech, she encouraged Hindu families to marry at a younger age and have at least four children.

In the viral clip, she also referred to Muslims as “jihadi pigs” and claimed that Muslims were “producing children like pigs.” She allegedly linked the community with violence while urging Hindus to increase their population.

What has drawn severe criticism, however, are her derogatory remarks targeting the Muslim community. She also appears to link the community with violence.

There was no immediate official statement from the BJP or Dr Tyagi on the authenticity of the clip or the remarks attributed to her.

Dr Tyagi has faced controversies in the past, with her name previously surfacing in connection with provocative speeches and confrontational political campaigns in Uttar Pradesh.
