NEW DELHI — Mohahmmed Umar Qureshi, a Muslim vendor, was beaten up by a Hindutva Mob and was forced to say ‘Jai Shri Ram’ by the people from the Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Himachal Pradesh’s Bangana town allegedly.
Qureshi said that the people from the Bajrang Dal, Shiv Sena and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) beat him up and looted the money he had and forced him to chant Jai Shri Ram.
The victim hails from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, who was working as a street vendor. He has narrated his ordeal in a video that went viral on social media.
“The terrorists from the Bajrang Dal and Shiv Sena beat me up. The workers of the BJP also were part of the group. They beat me up for no reason when I was going around to sell clothes. They asked me to show my aadhar card and permission letter. I complied. Still, they beat me up,” Qureshi can be seen narrating in the video.
He was taken in a vehicle and beaten up in a closed shop by 10-15 people and looted his money, including his clothes and other stuff meant for selling.
He said that they beat him up after learning that he was a Muslim.
As per Qureshi, when he went to the police station to file a complaint, the police refused to accept his complaint.
“They said that the police and the government of the state were in their pocket. Now, their government has been formed in the Centre and they will not allow Muslims live,” he said.
According to Qureshi, he was compelled to chant Jai Shri Ram and they kept thrashing him till his hand got fractured and ribs broken.
“I will not bow down to oppression. I want the police in Bangana town to file an FIR against them since the police clearly refused to file an FIR against them. I urge you to share my video to get me justice,” Qureshi said in the video.
As the video surfaced on social media, people tagged Himachal Pradesh police demanding action against the attackers.
“@himachalpolice, @SukhuSukhvinder will you investigate this matter and take action against the accused??Will the INDIA alliance do something to stop radical mobs in states ruled by them?,” said a social media activist Asif Khan.
