Undeterred Muhammad Alam vows to go to farmers’ protests again

NEW DELHI — Muhammad Aalam from Mewat, Haryana, who attended farmers protests at Shahjahanpur some days back has refuted News Nation’s claim that he is linked with Pakistani terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.
Alam has written a letter to the editor of the television channel demanding that the “fake news” story on him be pulled down from all the platforms of the channel. He has also threatened legal action against the channel.
Speaking with Clarion India over the phone, Alam said that he was a law-abiding citizen of the country and there was no case pending against him. “I went to the farmers protest with a group of youth from my area as we wanted to show our support to them.”
The information in the story titled “Suspects belonging to Pak terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba also joined the farmers movement” with a photograph of Aalam was attributed to intelligence agencies.
However, Aalam refuted the allegation saying the news item is completely false and fabricated.
Aalam’s father is currently lodged in Tihar Jail on charges of terror links. Aalam vouched for his father’s innocence but added that the allegations against his father did not “make me a criminal”.
The story was published and shared on News Nations social media pages including Facebook and Twitter on December 30.
Following the letter, the TV channel has pulled down the news item from its webportal but left it untouched on social media.
Aalam demanded that the channel should remove the posts from social media as well, otherwise “I will file a case against them”.
“As a citizen, it’s my right to protest or support protests,” he said adding that he would go to farmers’ protests again.
