AHMEDNAGAR – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is deliberately stoking communal tension in the state ahead of the upcoming elections, All India Majlis-e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan has said.
Demanding stringent action against BJP MLA Nitish Rane over his incendiary speeches against Muslims, Pathan said this was a clear attempt to divide the community and create unrest in the state. He was addressing a rally here on Monday.
Rane has been booked for his remarks against Muslims during Skull Hindu Samaj programmes in Topkhana and Sri Rampur on Sunday. His statements threatening to kill Muslims have sparked outrage and raised concerns about rising communal tensions in the region.
Rane issued threats against the Muslim community in his address. “If anyone speaks against Ramgiri Maharaj, we will enter the mosque and eliminate them one by one. Remember this,” Rane stated during the event, which was held in support of Hindutva leader Ramgiri Maharaj. Maharaj had previously drawn criticism for using derogatory language recently against Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
The two FIRs were registered at police stations in Ahmednagar and Sri Rampur, where the speeches were delivered. Authorities are currently investigating the incidents, and further legal actions are anticipated as public pressure mounts for accountability.
The situation remains tense as calls for calm and justice echo across the state, with many fearing that such rhetoric could lead to further polarisation in an already charged political atmosphere.
