India is our homeland, and its defence is both our national and constitutional responsibility, says the Jamiat chief
NEW DELHI – One of the country’s prominent Muslim organsations, Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind (Mahmood Madani faction) has said it wholeheartedly supports the brave Indian soldiers who launched Operation Sindoor late on Tuesday, striking targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK).
In a statement released on Wednesday, Jamiat chief Maulana Mahmood Madani expressed strong support for the Indian armed forces defending the sovereignty of the nation, following the recent attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
“Defending the country is a collective responsibility shared by all Indians. India is our homeland, and its defence is both our national and constitutional responsibility,” Maulana Madani said. Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind, he said, has always upheld the values of patriotism, peace, and unity. “At a time when our borders are under threat, we stand shoulder to shoulder with our brave soldiers,” he declared.
He further asserted that if Pakistan were to escalate the situation into war, the response from Indian citizens would be firm and united. “If Pakistan imposes a war, we state unequivocally that the entire country — people of all religions, especially Muslims — will stand with the Indian armed forces,” he said.
Calling on the Indian government to act with resolve, Madani urged a decisive reply to any hostile actions. “We urge the Government of India to deliver a strong and fitting response to every hostile action. The world must know that India, united as one nation, will defend its land and protect its people at all costs.”
He added that the organisation would intensify its efforts across the country to promote a spirit of unity, patience, and sacrifice during this challenging time.
