NEW DELHI – The Facebook profile of Rambahkt Gopal, who opened fire at students of Jamia Millia Islamia on Thursday, shows he wanted to “eliminate” Shaheen Bagh which emerged as the epi-center of the anti-CAA protests.

Gopal shot at Jamia student Shadab Frukh on Thursday in the presence of policemen, when a group of students were taking out a peaceful march to the Raj Ghat here on the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination. The group took this as an occasion to re-register their protest against the religiously discriminatory citizenship law.

Shooter Gopal who fired at the students near the campus went live three times from the Jamia protest site, on his Facebook page. His posts show that he reached there in a “suicide mood.” He was also heard appealing to his friends to take care of his family.

JALLIANWALA BAGH INVOKED

In a Facebook post, he said: “Shaheen Bagh, your game is over.” In another post, he challenged a Hindutva leader Updesh Rana, and said that “if I had half the number of followers what Rana has, I would have turned Shaheen Bagh into a Jallianwala Bagh (where the British committed massacre in year 1919).”

The shooter shared a post in which Rana was announcing that he was coming to Shaheen Bagh along with one lakh people to remove the Shaheen Bagh protesters within a week. Gopal urged him to do so immediately, before the Election Commission removed them one of these days. Shooter Gopal also says that he will soon show Updesh Rana and Ukendra Rana that he does not merely talk but rather walks the talk.

When shooter Gopal reached the Jamia protest site, he appealed to the people, saying “Please take care of my home”. He announced that his body should be taken in saffron clothes and the mourners should raise the slogan “Jai Shri Ram”.

He also complains about the protest at the Jamia, saying, “There is no Hindu there and neither is there the Hindu media.” He says he went to the Jamia to give people “azadi”.

Expressing his support to the Hindutva ideology, he says, “Some people are asking me whether I can earn my bread by supporting the Hindutva ideology. I want to tell these gullible people that if you live only for a piece of bread, there is no difference between you and dogs.”

Shooter Gopal has posted his photo and video, wielding rifle in his hand. He has also called for a boycott of Deepika Padukone’s Chapak movie, as she went to Jawaharlal Nehru University to show her solidarity with the students who were attacked by masked goons with rods and batons recently.
