The JIH chief calls for concrete steps toward a terrorism-free region, emphasising the role of ongoing dialogue in achieving lasting peace
NEW DELHI —The Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) on Sunday voiced strong support for the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, describing it as a crucial step toward regional stability.
Syed Sadatullah Husaini, Jamaat chief, said in a statement that it was a “positive and much-needed development that offers a ray of hope for peace and stability in the region.” He expressed his sincere gratitude to the numerous people, national and international civil society organisations, and groups that relentlessly promoted peace, de-escalation, and moderation throughout the escalated tension. “Their voices have served as a powerful reminder of the importance of upholding human dignity and preserving life,” Husaini said.
He also expressed condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the ongoing conflict, urging the government to provide appropriate compensation to the bereaved families. He also emphasised the need to support civilians in border areas who suffered losses in their livelihood and property.
As the ceasefire marks a new chapter in India-Pakistan relations, Husaini stressed that “sustained peace can only be ensured through efforts to institutionalise dialogue and diplomacy.” He reiterated Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s commitment to peace, justice, and harmony, urging both nations to leverage this ceasefire to promote enduring stability, mutual respect, and cooperation in the region.
Husaini concluded by calling for concrete steps toward a terrorism-free region, emphasising the role of ongoing dialogue in achieving lasting peace.
