HATHRAS – Six people have been arrested in connection with the Hathras stampede that killed 121 people at a religious event organised by self-styled godman Bhole Baba, a senior police official said on Thursday.
The six people worked as sevadars at the satsang by Bhole Baba, IG Shalabh Mathur told reporters, PTI reported.
As per police volunteers at the event were given specific uniforms (black and pink) and instructed to prevent any kind of video recording.
Mathur said non-bailable warrant will be issued against chief sevadar Devprakash Madhukar, a suspect.
Police have also offered a reward of one lakh rupees for information leading to the arrest of Madhukar, who remains at large.
