PATNA — In a strategic political move ahead of the Bihar assembly elections, Hina Shahab, wife of the late former Siwan MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, and her son Osama Shahab have officially joined the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The induction ceremony, held at the residence of former chief minister Rabri Devi on Sunday, was attended by RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son, Tejashwi Yadav, signalling a renewed alliance between the RJD and Shahabuddin’s family.
The move is seen as a calculated decision by Tejashwi Yadav, who is keen to bolster RJD’s influence in Siwan and surrounding areas by reconnecting with the legacy of Mohammad Shahabuddin, a prominent figure in Bihar’s political landscape.
With Hina Shahab and Osama Shahab joining RJD, political analysts suggest that the party may see a renewed support base in Siwan, where Shahabuddin’s legacy still resonates. Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav believe this alliance will attract voters loyal to the Shahabuddin family and strengthen RJD’s hold in the region. The initiative was facilitated by RJD legislative councillor Vinod Jaiswal, who reportedly played a pivotal role in bridging ties between the two families.
In another development, Indian cricketer Ishan Kishan’s father, Parnu Kumar Pandey, has joined the Janata Dal-United (JDU). The induction ceremony was held at the JDU headquarters in Patna, with senior party leaders in attendance. JDU leaders believe that Parnu Pandey’s membership will resonate positively among Bihar’s youth, particularly due to his connection to Ishan Kishan, a rising cricket star.
Pandey’s induction into JDU is expected to enhance the party’s appeal among young voters and his local supporters, potentially giving JDU an advantage in the upcoming elections. JDU workers believe welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds is part of the party’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in Bihar.
