Eid Prayers Held Under Shadow of War in Tehran; IRGC Spokesperson Laid to Rest

Date:

TEHRAN — Eid al-Fitr prayers, marking the end of holy month of Ramadan, were held in Tehran after overnight air strikes on the capital. Simultaneously a funeral was also held for IRGC spokesman Ali Mohammad Naini, reportedly killed in a US-Israel strike, as their war on Iran enters its fourth week.

Large crowds gathered at the Imam Khomeini Grand Mosque at dawn. Due to limited space, many worshippers performed prayers in open areas. Footage aired on state television showed significant public participation despite fears of possible bombardment.

According to reports, near-daily airstrikes have continued in Tehran and other areas since the joint attacks by the United States and Israel on February 28. The Fars News Agency reported that recent strikes targeted several neighborhoods in Tehran, its outskirts, and the city of Isfahan.

State media also showed large Eid prayer gatherings in other cities, including Arak, Zahedan, and Abadan.

Meanwhile, the funeral of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) spokesperson Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini was held. He was reportedly killed in a recent Israeli airstrike. According to Mehr News Agency and Tasnim News Agency, Naeini was an experienced commander who served Iran for more than four decades.

These developments come at a time of escalating regional tensions, with civilian life increasingly affected by the ongoing conflict. — Agencies
