Delhi Police Serve Notice to Abhjeet Dipke Ahead of CJP’s Tiranga March

Date:

NEW DELHI — Delhi Police personnel reached Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Abhijeet Dipke’s Delhi residence on Friday, serving notice barring him from holding a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march at Central Park in Connaught Place later in the day.

Citing restrictions, Delhi Police have also urged people to avoid the gathering, citing prohibitory orders and concerns about public order.

‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march is scheduled to begin at 5 pm, with Dipke urging supporters and members of the public to gather at Central Park carrying the national flag. The march is part of the CJP’s campaign demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s removal over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The proposed march also faces restrictions as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a two-day (Oct 16-17) closure of the Central Park for administrative reasons.

The protest follows the detention and judicial custody of CJP members Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka after a demonstration at Jantar Mantar.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Dipke claimed that Delhi Police and Intelligence Bureau (IB) personnel were tracking his movements and said he could be detained ahead of the proposed ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march.
