CPI(M) Urges Global Action to Enforce Gaza Ceasefire, Slam Israel’s Violations

The party holds the US accountable, stating that Washington, which had ‘trumpeted the ceasefire,’ must now ensure it is strictly enforced

NEW DELHI – The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday strongly condemned Israel’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, calling on the United States and the international community to take concrete steps to rein in Israeli aggression.

In a statement issued by the CPI(M) Polit Bureau, the party said Israel’s latest attack on Gaza “once again demonstrates the fragility of the ceasefire and the necessity to curb Israel’s expansionist policies.” The party held the US accountable, stating that Washington, which had “trumpeted the ceasefire,” must now ensure it is strictly enforced.

“The US, which announced the ceasefire and claimed success, cannot allow Israel to repeatedly violate it with impunity,” the statement said, adding that only firm action to restrain Israel can prevent further bloodshed.

The CPI(M) urged the international community to intensify pressure on Israel to comply with the ceasefire terms and uphold international law.

Reiterating its long-standing position on the Palestine issue, the party emphasised that lasting peace in the region is impossible without the recognition of an independent State of Palestine. It also demanded an end to the military and political support extended to Israel by the United States and its allies.

“Only through justice for the Palestinian people and the recognition of their right to nationhood can durable peace be achieved,” the statement emphasised.
