Moid Khan is being framed for political reasons; family says the girl had an affair with his bakery employee

NEW DELHI — Family members of Samajwadi Party leader Moid Khan have refuted rape allegations against him. They maintain that Khan has been framed merely for political reasons.
The family’s assertion comes as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) upped the ante in the Ayodhya rape case wherein a minor girl accused Khan of raping her. Following the hue and cry raised by the BJP, Khan’s bakery shop and other properties were demolished by the administration.
However, the Samajwadi Party is demanding a DNA test of the accused and the victim. Khan’s family members also echoed the Samajwadi Party demand of a DNA test and claimed that that he is being framed due to political reasons.
“DNA test should be conducted and there should be a fair probe. This action is completely unjustified and unfair. Media is showing only one side to blow the issue out of proportion. We are giving our version but it is not being shown by the media,” said a woman, who introduced herself as wife of Khan’s brother.
According to her, the victim had a love affair with Raju, an employee who worked at the Khan’s bakery. This resulted in her getting pregnant. “Raju told everything at the police station. He said that uncle (Khan) did not commit any wrong. He is innocent,” the woman told Aaj Tak quoting the bakery employee as saying.
“This is what Raju told the police but his statement is not being given credence. No one is talking about Raju’s involvement,” Khan’s female relative said.
“Khan’s name is being attached with the rape allegations because he is associated with the Samajwadi Party. And Raju worked at his bakery. We had no relation with Raju except that he is an employee,” said the woman.
A family member said “Raju is from Sitapur. He has nothing to do with the Samajwadi Party. He is only an employee at the bakery”.
Another family member said that the girl is being pressured to lie due to political reasons as Khan is a leader of the Samajwadi Party.
Khan’s brother, Abdul Jabbar, said: “The allegations are false and unjustified. Whatever is happening is due to political reasons. The BJP was defeated in the local and Lok Sabha elections. This is why they are settling scores.”
