AIMIM’s Former MP Imtiaz Jaleel Named in Nashik TCS Chargesheet

Date:

The former lawmaker has not been named as an accused in the case, nor have the police publicly clarified the nature of his alleged involvement

NASHIK — The name of former Lok Sabha member of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Imtiaz Jaleel has surfaced in the first chargesheet filed by Nashik Police in connection with the controversial Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) case. The case involves allegations of sexual assault, religious conversion and offences under the SC/ST Act.

However, police have not named Jaleel as an accused in the case, nor have they publicly clarified the nature of his alleged involvement.

On May 22, Nashik Police submitted a chargesheet running to nearly 3,500 pages before a local court in connection with the first of nine FIRs registered in the case. The case is being investigated by the Deolali Camp Police Station.

According to the FIR, the allegations include rape, hurting religious sentiments and offences under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Four Named as Accused

The chargesheet names TCS employee Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Nida Khan and AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel as accused.

Investigators claim that technical evidence, mobile phone records and other confidential information gathered during the probe pointed to attempts to shield absconding accused Nida Khan from arrest.

How Imtiaz Jaleel’s Name Appeared

According to police documents, the name of Imtiaz Jaleel emerged during the course of the investigation and interrogation of those linked to the case.

The chargesheet reportedly alleges that while Nida Khan was absconding and her anticipatory bail application had been rejected by a Nashik court, efforts were made by some individuals to help her avoid arrest.

Police allege that AIMIM corporator Mateen Patel provided shelter to Nida Khan and concealed her whereabouts from investigating officers. Investigators further claim that the accused frequently changed locations in an effort to evade police action.

It was during this part of the investigation that Jaleel’s name reportedly appeared in police records. However, the chargesheet does not list him as an accused, and authorities have not announced any charges against him.

Police have also not stated whether he has been formally questioned in connection with the case.

Investigation Continues

The case centres on allegations that a woman was subjected to sexual harassment and pressured to convert her religion. Investigators are continuing to examine the allegations and gather evidence related to the matter.

With the filing of the first chargesheet, legal proceedings in the case are expected to move forward. Police officials have said that investigations into the remaining FIRs are still underway and that additional documents may be submitted before the court in the coming months.

The allegations contained in the FIR and chargesheet remain subject to judicial scrutiny, and the accused are entitled to defend themselves in court.
