Mob Vandalise and Loot Muslim Shops in Haryana’s Ambala

Date:

Innocent Muslims have been targeted in several cities of Haryana and other BJP-ruled states, with little or no action by the law enforcement authorities

NEW DELHI — Members of Hindutva outfits stormed and vandalised several Muslim-owned shops and abused and physically assaulted their owners in Haryana’s city of Ambala on Saturday.

Peeved at the recent terror attack in South Kashmir’s Pahalgam, the Hindutva mobs, shouting provocative and incendiary slogans, have been targeting innocent Muslims in several cities of Haryana and other BJP-ruled states with impunity and little or no action by the law enforcement authorities.

In incidents in Ambala, Hindutva groups vandalised five to six shops, beat up people, and threw goods out of the shops as a small police force stood by as silent spectators. A Hindu mob even forced two shops on Nelson Road and Rai Market to close down, creating a tense situation.

Earlier, some people in Ambala city, fuelled by anger over the Pahalgam attack, targeted the Shama Biryani Shop and vandalised it. The mob damaged the shop’s signboard and interior. About 300 meters away, it also overturned a juice cart and a flower vendor’s cart, scattering goods on the road.

Hindu organisations are demanding action against Pakistan.

The situation in Ambala is currently under control, with the police are keeping a close watch.

Although viral videos clearly showed the acts of vandalism and looting of the Muslim shops, the police dismissed them as minor incidents.
