Syed Abdul Basit Anwar, Former Ameer of Andhra Jamaat-e-Islami Passes Away

NEW DELHI — Maulana Syed Abdul Basit Anwar, former Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s United Andhra Pradesh unit, breathed his last on Thursday at a private hospital in Hyderabad.

He was 73.  He left behind two daughters and a son, reports reaching here said.

Maulana Basit Anwar remained a dedicated member of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind throughout his life and held various significant positions within the organisation.

He was buried at Sultan Shahi graveyard on Thursday afternoon and funeral prayers were conducted at Jamia Masjid Dar Al-Shifa. 

Maulana Basit Anwar was known for his involvement in the early youth organisation of Tehreek-e-Islami, where he served as the state president of the Students Islamic Organisation (SIO). His commitment to the cause remained unwavering, and he continued to serve Tehreek-e-Islami until his final days.

Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mubashir Al-Zafar, along with other Jamaat officials, expressed their deep sorrow over his death and offered their condolences to the bereaved family. 

Maulana Syed Abdul Basit Anwar’s legacy will be remembered as that of a strong and dedicated soldier of Tehreek-e-Islami. May Allah forgive him, elevate his status in Jannatul Firdous, and grant patience to his grieving family.
