Twitterati Demand Arrest of Shobha Karandlaje for Spitting Venom Against Muslims

NEW DELHI — A campaign has been launched on Twitter against BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje from Udupi-Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka for spreading enmity and hatred among people even as the country is battling the pandemic of Corona Virus with hash-tag #ArrestShobhaKarandlaje.

Shobha Karandlaje is kmwn name for her controversial comments and remarks against Muslims and has time and again been in headlines for allegedly spreading hatred among different communities through her controversial posts and tweets.

Kerala Police had registered a case against Shobha Karandlaje in January under Section 153(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, etc.) after her January 22 tweet stating, “Hindus of Kuttipuram Panchayat of Malappuram were denied water supply as they supported the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019”.

Twitter users on Monday started tweeting with hash-tag #ArrestShobhaKarandlaje demanding the arrest of the MP. Twitterati demand the MP should be booked under section 153 (A) of Indian Penal Code(IPC) for promoting enmity and hatred between different groups on grounds of race and religion.
