NEW DELHI (IANS) — Rebel JD-U leader Sharad Yadav on Wednesday said a rally will be held in Mumbai on Friday by opposition parties to “save India’s composite culture” and to fight divisive forces in the country.

“As per the Constitution, there is no alternative but to live in harmony with each other. The rally will be held to save our composite culture. Farmers, labourers and leaders of many opposition parties will participate,” he told the media here.

D. Raja of the Communist Party of India, Sanjay Kumar of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Abu Azmi of Samajwadi Party, Raju Shetty of Swabhimani Paksha, Jaiprakash Yadav of Rashtriya Janata Dal and Prakash Ambedkar, grandson of B.R. Ambedkar, will be among the participants.

Sharad Yadav, a former Union Minister, criticised the Modi government for “failing” to fulfill the promises made before it came to power in May 2014.

Instead, he said, it was creating problems for people through Digital India, Goods and Services Tax and demonetisation.
