Textbook linking terrorism to Islam

NEW DELHI — Pictures of a book on political science for students of Class 12 in Rajasthan have surfaced on social media that carries content saying terrorism is a face of Islam.

The content sparked outrage among Muslim students forcing the publisher, Sanjiv Prakashan, to issue an apology assuring that they will pull back the copies of the book from the market.

The problematic content in the book, titled “Sanjiv Pass Books”, reads: “Islamic terrorism is a form of Islam. In the last 20-30 years, it has become powerful… submission to Allah, unlimited barbarity, blackmail, extortion of black money are features of such terrorism”.

In the apology note, the publisher while terming it a mistake by the author of the book acknowledged that the content has hurt the sentiments of Muslims. It said that the publisher has asked the wholesalers to stop the sale of the copies of the book. “We will get back the unsold copies and destroy them.”

Meanwhile people reacted sharply on social media calling the publishing of the hateful content a shameful act.
