NEW DLEHI – General Secretary of the National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO), Azeem Naved, was attacked on Thursday night with a knife in Delhi after he tried to stop a group of people who were beating up an innocent man.

Azeem was taken to the Holi Family Hospital located in Jamia Nagar by his peers for first aid. Currently, he is admitted in the trauma centre at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). On Friday, leaders of NCHRO met the Assistant Commissioner of Police, South Delhi district, and submitted a memorandum demanding immediate action against the culprits.

“Jamia Nagar Police Station registered FIR NO 104/21. The perpetrators who executed the attack are still on the loose and no action has been taken against them by the authorities. It is worrying that after attacking somebody so violently, people can simply roam around without facing any consequences,” said the NCHRO in its memorandum to the deputy police commissioner of Delhi demanding to book the culprits under relevant sections of IPC.
