Second conversion for the family which had embraced Islam 12 years back

SHAMLI — As many as 18 members of a Muslim family have become Hindus after performing necessary rituals in the Kandhla area of Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. This is said to be the second conversion for the family which had embraced Islam from Hinduism 12 years back.

The family had announced its decision to convert back to Hinduism a few days back but the rituals were held on Monday.

Mahant Yashveer Maharaj performed rituals and a ‘havan’ with family members. Those took part in the rituals were the family head Umar, a resident of Rai Jadgan colony in Kandhla, his wife, three sons, daughters-in-law and their children.

Rashid, son of Umar, said that his father had converted to Islam 12 years ago. He told reporters that he was too young to understand when his parents converted to Islam but added that he no longer wanted to practice Islam.

The family has submitted in writing that they are changing their religion willfully and are not under any pressure.

The family also submitted an affidavit at the Shamli tehsil in this regard last week. – IANS
