NEW DELHI — The Congress’ frontal organizations on Saturday jointly staged a protest against the attack on vice-president Rahul Gandhi in Gujarat. Indian Youth Congress, All India Mahila Congress, and NSUI members were detained by the police when they marched towards the BJP office. Youth leaders said it is no surprise that such attacks are taking place in a state where the present PM had ruled for 15 years.

Addressing the protestors, IYC president Amarinder Singh Raja said there was no doubt that the attack has been plotted by the BJP-RSS. He pointed out the Gujarat police have arrested four BJP office bearers for their involvement in the attack on Rahul Gandhi who was visiting the flood-hit Banaskantha area in Gujarat.

“We as the youths of the country want an answer from the PM? Why is he stooping so low in the name of his political activities? We are not going to get intimidated by your coward actions. We come from Gandhiji’s lineage; we will not sit silently to this government’s  oppressiveand undemocratic  policies and actions,” the youth leaders said.

The protest march began from IYC office at Raisina Road and was moving towards the BJP office when the protesters were forcefully stopped by police and detained around 50 activists.

Raising anti-BJP and anti-Modi slogans, they asked PM Narendra Modi to apologize to the nation for this attack on their leader.
