Widespread Anger as Hindu Miscreants Desecrate Wazirabad Cemetery in Delhi

A group, led by Satyam Pandit, vandalises graves, pours petrol and sets fire to burial sites; calls for justice against rising Hindu aggression in the capital

NEW DELHI – A horrific video has gone around on social media, showing Satyam Pandit, a self-proclaimed Hindu leader, leading a group that broke into the Wazirabad cemetery in North Delhi. The miscreants used hammers to damage graves, tried to harm the bodies inside, and then poured petrol on them before setting everything alight. This happened on the day of Holi, right in the middle of Ramadan, when Muslims were fasting and praying for peace.

The video, which has been shared by thousands, captures the men shouting as they smash the headstones. They also burned the sheets that cover the graves. People watching the clip can see the fire spreading and smoke rising from the ground. One man in the group is heard saying bad words about the dead Muslims buried there.

This is not the first time Satyam Pandit has been in the news for such acts. Just a week before, he made another video from the same cemetery. In that clip, he spoke in a way that stirred up hate between Hindus and Muslims. He posted it online to spoil the good relations between the two groups. Many believe that the video encouraged other bad people to come and do this damage.

The cemetery caretaker, Mahfooz Khan, was very upset when he saw what happened. He said, “Some bad people came into the cemetery and caused a lot of harm to the graves. They even tried to damage the bodies of our loved ones buried there. We told the police about it right away.”

Mahfooz added that the cemetery is under the Waqf Board and there is a case about it before the high court. He explained, “The court has ordered fencing for the cemetery, but still these people are trying to break the peace between Hindus and Muslims.”

Local Muslims quickly went to the cemetery after the attack to fix the broken graves. They cleaned up the mess and put new sheets on the damaged spots. One resident, who lives near the cemetery and did not want his name shared, fearing reprisal, said, “Our hearts are broken. This is a place where we remember our family who have passed away. To see it attacked like this is too much. We are peaceful people, but this makes us worry about our safety.”

The police from Timarpur station have started looking into the matter based on the video. They reached the spot soon after and are talking to witnesses. A police officer, who spoke without giving his name, said, “We are checking the video and will take action against those who did this. No one can break the law like this.”

But many Muslims are asking why the police did not act sooner. They point out that if the police had done something about Satyam Pandit’s first video, this bigger attack might not have happened.

Satyam Pandit is known for his links to Hindu groups that often speak against Muslims. His actions have made many Indian Muslims feel unsafe in their own country. In recent years, there have been more cases like this in Delhi and other parts of India, where Muslim places are targeted. This incident has made the problem even clearer.

A Muslim leader from the area said, “We demand strong action against Satyam Pandit and anyone who helped him. This is not just about one cemetery; it is about the rights of Indian Muslims to live without fear. The government must protect us.” He added that the judge’s orders about the cemetery must be followed, and those who break them should face hard punishment.

The video has caused a big stir online. People from all over India are sharing it and saying it is wrong. One user wrote, “How can someone do this to graves? This shows no respect for the dead or for other religions.” Another user said, “Indian Muslims have always lived in peace with Hindus. Why are some people trying to change that? We need unity, not hate.”

The Wazirabad cemetery is an old place where many Muslim families bury their dead. It is near the Yamuna and has been there for a long time. The Waqf Board looks after it, and the court case is about keeping it safe from land grabbers. Despite the orders for a fence, the attack still took place, showing how bold these attackers are.

Mahfooz Khan also said, “This cemetery comes under the Waqf Board. The high court is hearing the case, and we are following all rules. But these antisocial people do not care about the law.” He called on the police to arrest Satyam Pandit quickly so that no more harm comes to the community.

Muslims in Delhi are now more careful. Parents are telling their children to stay away from certain areas, and mosques are asking for extra protection. One elder from the Muslim side said, “We are angry, but we will not fight back with violence. We trust the law to give us justice. But if nothing is done, it will only get worse.”

This attack has shown the bad side of some Hindu groups who claim to protect their faith but end up hurting others. Satyam Pandit’s repeated actions against Muslims have been called out by rights groups. They say such people are trying to divide the country along religious lines.

As the police continue their work, the Muslim community waits for answers. They want to know why such hate is allowed to grow. For now, the damaged graves stand as a sad reminder of the need for better protection for minorities in India.

The government has a duty to keep all citizens safe, no matter their religion. Incidents like this test how well they are doing that job. Indian Muslims hope for quick and fair action so they can bury their dead in peace and live without constant worry.
