NEW DELHI – Launching a blistering attack on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh accused them of discriminating against Dalits and Adivasi communities by not allowing them in temples.

During a debate on the “Glorious Journey of 75 Years of the Constitution of India,” in the Rajya Sabha, Singh said, “They don’t allow Dalits into temples. Their mindset is clear — when the foundation stone for the Ayodhya temple was laid, PM Modi, the UP CM, and the Governor attended, but then-President Ram Nath Kovind was excluded. When the temple was inaugurated, President Droupadi Murmu, a member of the Dalit and Adivasi community, was also left out.”

Singh went on to question the proclaimed inclusivity of the Hindu outfits. “No RSS chief has ever hailed from the Dalit or Adivasi community. Why is that?” He said it shows the discriminatory mindset of these organisations.

Singh also came down heavily on the BJP government over the issue of toppling elected governments and the misuse of Article 356. “Across the country, they topple governments through manipulation and horse-trading. This nation will be governed by Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution, not the whims of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi or (Unjon Home Minister) Amit Shah,” news agency Press Trust of India (PTI) quoted him as saying.

The AAP leader alleged that applications have been submitted in the national capital for the removal of the names of several Hindu voters from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. “These people are not Bangladeshi. They are not Rohingyas. People from the eastern region will make you (BJP) lose your deposits in the Delhi election,” he said.

He demanded a high-level inquiry into how applications are being submitted to remove names.

“They (NDA) did the same scam in Maharashtra. They did the same scam in Haryana. They want to win elections through a scam. This trick won’t work in Delhi. (Arvind) Kejriwal and the Aam Aadmi Party are here,” Singh said.

Singh also asked, “How Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from Tripura, Bengal and Assam reached Delhi after crossing Jharkhand, Bihar and UP? What were you doing? Tell the name if you have chased out 10 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants in the last 10 years. Why do you do politics?”

“If you do dirty politics here (in Delhi), if you do Hindu-Muslim, we have trained people in Delhi they will say ‘school-hospital’. I want to tell you that don’t try to show dictatorship in Delhi. Fight Delhi election on the basis of issues,” Singh said, attacking the BJP.
