‘Once you know the match can be fixed, you don’t need to score runs, bowl or field well’, says AICC In-Charge of Bihar Congress Krishna Allavaru
NEW DELHI – The vote-theft was a comprehensive process and a conspiracy orchestrated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to steal the elections, the main opposition party has said.
Congress also said that the Voter Adhikar Yatra led by Leader of Opposition and senior party leader Rahul Gandhi created an awareness among the people in Bihar about the possible stealing of their votes.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here on Wednesday, AICC In-Charge of Bihar Congress Krishna Allavaru, Bihar Congress President Rajesh Ram and the CLP Leader Dr Shakeel Ahmad welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision asking the Election Commission to accept Aadhaar Card as one of the proofs of identity for getting registered as a voter.
Krishna Allavaru said that vote theft was a complete and comprehensive conspiracy to steal elections, starting with “selecting the umpire” up to the counting of votes.
Elaborating, he said, first the BJP government changed the rules for the appointment of election commissioners. He said, earlier three-member committee to choose the ECs included the prime minister, the chief justice of India and the leader of the opposition. He noted that the BJP government removed the CJI and included Union Home Minister. “To fix the match, you need to fix the umpire first”, he remarked.
Then, he added, the government also brought another law to provide legal immunity to the election commissioners, shielding them from prosecution for any acts of omission and commission — effectively giving them a free hand to “fix the matches”.
He said the vote theft conspiracy also included manipulating the electoral rolls as had been shown with proof by Rahul Gandhi. He said the vote theft was carried out in the polling booths as the ECI refused to provide the CCTV footage particularly when there was a sudden spike in the polling percentage after 5 pm on the polling days.
Allavaru said that the BJP did not stop there but also manipulated the vote counting process. Citing the example of the Varanasi constituency from where Prime Minister Modi was trailing up to sixth, seventh and eighth rounds, he pointed out how live updates went off suddenly and at the end, Modi was magically declared the winner.
The Congress in-charge said anyone who is in a position to steal the votes will have no incentive to work for the people as he will not be bothered about issues like unemployment, inflation, migration, healthcare or education. “Once you know the match can be fixed, you don’t need to score runs, bowl or field well”, he remarked.
For changing the situation in Bihar, “you need to change the government there”, he remarked.
Bihar Congress president Rajesh Ram welcomed the SC decision asking the ECI to accept the Aadhaar Card as proof of identity. He said the Voter Adhikar Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi had created massive awareness among people against vote theft.
CLP Leader Dr Shakeel Ahmad said Gandhi’s Yatra had created overwhelming enthusiasm among the people of Bihar who travelled miles and miles to meet and greet the Leader of Opposition.
