NEW DELHI — An undated video depicting a teacher purportedly encouraging Hindu students to physically assault a fellow Muslim student has ignited a firestorm of controversy, prompting action from local authorities. The video, which has gone viral on social media, captures a distressing scene within a classroom at Neha Public School in the village of Khubbapur, Muzaffarnagar.

In the video footage, the teacher can be heard making incendiary remarks, directing students to forcefully strike a fellow student of Muslim faith. “I have declared jitne bhi Mohammedan bachhe hai…” the teacher is heard saying, reportedly encouraging Hindu students to attack the Muslim student in a disturbing display of discrimination. One student is shown striking another, presumably the Muslim student, while the latter appears visibly upset and distressed.

Authorities from the Muzaffarnagar Police department were quick to respond to the viral video. The official Twitter handle of the Muzaffarnagar Police announced that the station in-charge of Mansoorpur had been instructed to thoroughly investigate the incident and take appropriate action. The video has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students within the educational institution.

It remains unclear how the video was recorded, as the teacher appeared to be conversing with an individual explaining her actions. The teacher’s apparent instruction to the students to deliver forceful blows to the Muslim student has ignited a public outcry and sparked discussions about the prevalence of communal tensions within educational environments.

The student who was reportedly targeted in the video has a father who, while understandably outraged, has decided not to file a formal police complaint. “We have come to a middle ground that I will remove my kid from the school and won’t file any police complaint,” the father stated, indicating a desire for a resolution that avoids further escalation.

The incident has drawn attention to the importance of fostering an inclusive and tolerant environment within schools, as well as the need for authorities to promptly address instances of discrimination and violence within educational settings. As the investigation unfolds, questions about the responsibilities of schools in promoting diversity and preventing such incidents from occurring are likely to come to the forefront.

Neha Public School has yet to issue an official statement regarding the video, but local community members are expressing their concerns about the safety and well-being of all students within the institution. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the challenges still faced in achieving harmonious coexistence and mutual respect among diverse communities.
