A mother in the embattled city of Aleppo made the headlines this week as the Syrian tragedy surfaced once again in a video shared on Twitter and Facebook.

The mother in the video tells her heavily wounded son to take the shahadah just before his death. Saying that Allah hears the cries of Syrian people, she tells her son to repeat after his mother to say “La ilahe illallah” (There is no God but Allah).
The Syrian regime has been battering the opposition-held parts of Aleppo with 250,000 civilians now suffering from energy and food shortages while thousands of them have fled the city. The regime claims that it evacuates civilians in the areas abandoned by the opposition, but people are being taken to the northern parts of the city.
