NEW DELHI – A video showing a Tiktok celebrity and BJP leader Sonali Phogat hitting a man with her slippers while hurling choicest expletives at him has gone viral on the social media.
Reports say the man in the video is Sultan Singh, secretary of a local market committee in Balsamand village in Haryana’s Hisar. The incident took place on Friday.

In the video clip, the victim could be seen cowering as Phogat continued to rain blows at him. The BJP leader is ostensibly angry at the market secretary as his services seem to have failed to meet her expectations.
A policeman is among a few people present at the scene. He is being asked by Phogat to register a report against Sultan with a complaint that he misbehaved with her and used foul language.
The man defends himself saying he was just doing his job compiling a ‘set’.
Later, in another video popped up on social media, Phogat was seen explaining as to why she lost her cool at the employee. “I could not control myself when I heard the kind of language he used.”
In 2019, Phogat unsuccessfully fought parliamentary elections with BJP ticket from Mandi Adampur. She lost to Kuldeep Bishnoi of the Congress.
Commenting on the incident, Congress national spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala said, in a tweet, “The market committee secretary was thrashed like an animal.”

The Times of India reported that the police have registered a case against Phogat. Superintendent of Police in Hisar, Ganga Ram Punia, assured that police would take appropriate action.
