Uttarakhand Police Designates New Nodal officer for Kashmiri Students

Dehradun — The Uttarakhand Police administration has appointed a new nodal officer for Kashmiri students.

A press release by Jammu and Kashmir Students Association Thursday said that Director- General of Police Uttarakhand Ashok Kumar informed that SP Law and Order Shweta Choubey has been designated as nodal officer to manage the complaints of Kashmiri students living in the state.

The spokesperson of the association Nasir Khuehami met the DGP and apprised him of various issues faced by Kashmiri Students in the State.

“In case, there is any apprehension or any misconduct towards them, they should contact Special Nodal Officer Shweta Choubey for addressing such issues,” Kumar said.

Khuehami urged the DGP to hold regular interaction programs with Students of J&K to create a sense of security among them that they are safe in Uttarakhand.

Khuehami also informed him how the negative portrayal of Kashmir in the media impacts students studying in various states of the country.

According to the release Kumar assured of taking all possible steps to ensure the students’ safety and said that he had been closely monitoring the situation.

“He informed Khuehami that a 24×7 Special grievance redressal helpline was already launched for them, through which students can contact the police for an early disposal of cases,” the press release said.

In case, there is any apprehension or any misconduct towards them, they should contact Special Nodal Officer Shweta Choubey for addressing such issues and we will hold interaction program’s with Kashmiri Students here after.

DGP also shared the contact number (94111 12342 ) and email ([email protected]) of SP Chuabey for students to reach out to her with complaints.
