TEHRAN — Iranian officials warned that repeated violations by the United States and Israel make a bilateral ceasefire or negotiations “unreasonable” at this stage. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Parliament in Iran, highlighted three breaches of the 10-Point Proposal framework even before formal talks could begin.
Ghalibaf said the violations include the failure to implement the ceasefire in Lebanon, the intrusion of a drone into Iranian airspace over Lar in Fars Province, and denial of Iran’s right to nuclear enrichment. He stressed that these breaches undermine the very “workable basis on which to negotiate,” as described by US President Donald Trump, and deepen Iran’s historical distrust of US commitments.
The statement comes amid brutal Israeli attacks in Lebanon. The Lebanese Civil Defense reported at least 182 civilians murdered and more than 890 injured after Israeli airstrikes hit multiple areas across the country. Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed that the raids targeted Beirut and other regions, leaving dozens dead and hundreds wounded.
Authorities described the attacks as “a very serious escalation,” as Israel conducted simultaneous airstrikes across multiple Lebanese territories.
Trump said Lebanon is not part of the recently announced ceasefire with Iran, contradicting earlier statements by Pakistan’s prime minister, who mediated between the US and Iran to reach the agreement. Trump’s announcement came following reports of outrage in Israel over the agreement. — QNN
