On the other side, the BJP has decided to field Yogi Adityanath from his home ground of Gorakhpur in the upcoming election. There had been talk that CM Yogi would contest from the Ayodhya or Mathura seat this time around.
Though the battle between Yogi Adityanath and Chandra Shekhar will mainly be one of perception, Azad Samaj Party hopes that other opposition parties will not field their candidates in Gorakhpur and support Chandra Shekhar to fight out the BJP.
