PATNA: BJP leader and Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who is infamous for making provocative and communal remarks, has been captured on camera inciting mob sloganeering against Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Darbhanga. RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav charged that Singh is disturbing law & order.

Singh was there to meet family members of an elderly person who was hacked to death by a mob. While local police, local BJP MP and Deputy Chief Minister of the state have denied he was killed for naming a chowk after Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Singh has been insisting the man was killed for naming the chowk after Modi.

In a video shared by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, Singh is seen leading a crowd and asking them to say “DSP Murdabad”.

After the Friday hacking of Ramchandra Yadav, 70, Darbhanga’s Senior Superintendent of Police Satya Veer Singh had said: “It was due to an old land dispute and has no connection with naming of chowk, they named their private land as Narendra Modi Chowk. Batons were used to injure the deceased’s son. There is no tension in the village.”

His junior and DSP Dilnawaz Ahmad had told ANI news agency: “We reached the spot of the incident immediately and have arrested the culprits by night. We have also recorded the statements of all the witnesses.” He had also said it was a land dispute.

However, in the video, Union Minister Singh is clearly seen and heard asking the crowd to raise slogans against the DSP.

On Saturday, he and Bihar BJP chief Nityanand Rai had visited the home of the deceased. While talking to the media, Singh had said: “Main jaan raha tha ki chunav mein zeher boya jaa raha hai ek khaas samuday, dal ki ore se. Aaj wahi chunav parinaam ke baad, Teju Yadav aur unke parivar ke logon ne bayan diya ki Modi Chowk jabse usne banaya hai tabse uske upar aafat ka pahad toot pada hai.”

Bihar BJP chief Rai also said: “People are saying that this happened because of naming of Modi Chowk. They may have a prior land dispute. It’s separate incident which happened earlier & SP, DSP are trying to cover it by linking the 2. We’ll complain about police officials to govt.”

The duo made the statements even after the 3rd time sitting BJP MP Kirti Azad had denied the link between murder and Modi chowk. “@BJP4India please don’t polarise #Darbhanga capital of #Mithila land of #MaaSita. Land dispute is not communal @AmitShah ji you suspended me for exposing corruption. We #Mithilanchalis are peace loving people. @narendramodi bhai please help. Stop divisive forces humble prayer,” Azad had tweeted Friday night.

Senior BJP leader and Bihar’s Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi had also trashed as “totally false” the news reports linking the murder with the chowk. “Totally false that murder in Darbhanga was because of naming Modi Chawk. Case of land dispute. Board was put long back. Murder has nothing to do with Board,” Sushil Modi had tweeted also on Friday night.

While sharing the Giriraj Singh video, RJD leader and former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav commented: “Modi Ji’s favourite Minister Giriraj Singh disturbing law & order against his own govt. He is inciting crowd against Nitish govt. See Video..DSP Muradabad. Who has courage to question & debate such unlawful act of an Union Minister?”

Later in a tweet, he asked if slogan against DSP was raised because he is Dilnawaz Ahmed.
