Women farmers and farm laborers had also attended the rally, organized by the All India Kisan Sabha, in large number. In one voice, they said that officials at block level do not listen to their grievances.

LUCKNOW — Thousands of farmers gathered here from different parts of Uttar Pradesh to press for their specific demands, mainly the loan waiver. Men and women, old and young were holding placards in their hands with demands inscribed on them.
“Narendra Modi had promised cheap electricity, cheap fertilizers and water and that he will arrange to save farms from animals. But four years have passed, nothing has happened on the ground. Rather, since the Yogi Adityanath government was formed in Lucknow, it has increased price rate of electricity and fertilizers,” said an older farmer while talking to Caravan Daily.

“Our demand is that the government should lower down the price of electricity and fertilizers. We also demand minimum price for our crops that should be one and half times more than our investment,” demanded a farmer from Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Our demand is that the government should lower down the price of electricity and fertilizers. We also demand minimum price for our crops that should be one and half times more than our investment,” demanded a farmer from Varanasi, the Lok Sabha constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“The government should lift restrictions on sale and purchase of animals,” demanded another farmer.
Women farmers and farm laborers had also attended the rally, organized by the All India Kisan Sabha, in large number. In one voice, they said that officials at block level do not listen to their grievances.
Besides farmers, workers from various unorganized sectors also participated in the rally.
Last week, All India Kisan Sabha had organized a massive and historic march in Mumbai. Around 35,000 farmers from Nashik district and neighboring areas of Maharashtra had marched to Mumbai walking around 180 kilometers. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was forced to meet a delegation of the farmers and accept their demands.
That common people are not much happy with the performance of the Modi and Yogi governments was evident from the results of the Lok Sabha by-polls in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. BJP lost both Gorakhpur and Phulpur seats to the Samajwadi Party. Gorakhpur seat was won by Yogi for five straight terms. He vacated it after he became Chief Minister last year. The Phulpur seat was won by present Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
In Bihar also, the Opposition RJD defeated the JDU-BJP combine in Araria Lok Sabha seat and Jehanabad Assembly seat.
