HYDERABAD – Bhainsa, a town in Telangana’s former Adilabad district, remains tense following clashes for the last 48 hours between people of two communities. At least 19 people, including eight police personnel, were injured. Eighteen houses were set ablaze and 26 vehicles burnt in the violence.
Section 144 has been imposed in Bhainsa. Internet has been suspended in Nirmal, Adilabad, Mancherial and Asifabad.
The violence erupted on Sunday night after some residents of Bhainsa objected to the noise created by revving up of bikes without silencers by some young men.
One community came in support of the bikers following which the situation spun out of control and the two communities began pelting stones against each other.
We condemn the violence in Bhainsa and demand that @TelanganaCMO and @TelanganaDGP should take the strictest action against the miscreants and the organisations that they belong to. In fact, the main accused is someone against whom people of Bhainsa had already filed a complaint. pic.twitter.com/9E0boimhAg
