HYDERABAD – Controversial BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Monday compared AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi to Pakistan’s founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah. He also said that voting for Owaisi is the same as voting against India.

Surya was speaking in Hyderabad as part of election campaign for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls due on December 1.

“Laughable that Akabaruddin and Asaduddin Owaisi are speaking of development. They haven’t allowed development in old Hyderabad, the only thing they allowed is Rohingya Muslims. Every single vote to Owaisi is a vote against India and everything that India stands for,” he added.

Surya is an MP of BJP and president of its youth wing, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha. He is known for making remarks which are often considered Islamophobic. In April this year, his disrespectful tweet against Muslim women strained India’s relations with the Arab world.

Singling out the AIMIM leader, he said, “Asaduddin Owaisi speaks the language of rabid Islamism, separatism and extremism which Mohammad Ali Jinnah was also speaking.”

He said, “We don’t want razzakars to come back in the power (Owaisi). If you vote for Owaisi here he becomes strong in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh,”

Surya also trained his gun at the Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, by saying, “KCR wants to make Hyderabad Istanbul, the capital of Turkey – a 100 per cent Muslim country, and its president speaks against India. That’s why they (TRS) are in alliance with AIMIM because they want Hyderabad of Pakistan.”

He added, “We will not let you make it Istanbul but will make it Bhagyanagar.”
