NEW DELHI – The relentless attacks, boycotts and discrimination against Muslim in India in the wake of Coronavirus has attracted international attentions. International group of Muslim countries OIC on Sunday asked the Indian government to stop growing tide of Islamophobia.
Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC), human rights body of the Organization of Islamic Corporation (OIC), condemned the vicious Islamophobic campaign against Muslims in India.
The body tweeted, “OIC-IPHRC condemns the unrelenting vicious #Islamophobic campaign in #India maligning Muslims for spread of #COVID-19 as well as their negative profiling in media subjecting them to discrimination & violence with impunity.”

In another tweet, it wrote, ” OIC-IPHRC urges the #Indian Govt to take urgent steps to stop the growing tide of #Islamophobia in India and protect the rights of its persecuted #Muslim minority as per its obligations under int”l HR law”.
The statement has been issued by the OIC after several Arab officials have expressed their grave concerns over the way the Muslims being treated in India. They called upon the International groups including the UNO to intervene to control the issue.
The communal coverage and the fake news spread on the social and mainstream media fueled the attacks and boycotts against the Muslims. Recently, a Meerut hospital issued ad saying that they will not treat Muslims unless they have the report of COVID negative. In Jharkhand, a pregnant Muslim woman lost her baby after she was abused and forced to clean up blood. She was also beaten up with the slipper.
